Building for the Future

75th LOGO

For nearly seventy-five years, the medical professionals and researchers of the American Epilepsy Society have advanced our understanding of epilepsy and increased the number of modalities available to treat this disease. Despite these advances, epilepsy in 30 to 40 percent of the two million afflicted in the United States remains uncontrolled by the latest in drug therapy and technology. Much more must be done to alleviate the impact of epilepsy on victims of the disease and their families.

We know of two remedies in the fight against epilepsy: more research and more talented practitioners. We need a continuous influx of bright young investigators trained in applying today’s new ideas and cutting-edge technologies to the problem of epilepsy. We must also attract innovators from diverse fields of science, engineering, and technology dedicated to finding ways to eliminate seizures from the lives of patients caught in a world without adequate treatment or therapeutic solution.

Even as we make progress in understanding, diagnosing, treating and preventing epilepsy, and even as we know there is more to be done, we are facing a new reality—funding sources that we once relied on are now no longer available. The American Epilepsy Society needs your financial support to continue the important work of research and treatment. In supporting the American Epilepsy Society, you are helping to close the treatment gap that extends the suffering of those with epilepsy.  Your contribution means researchers and care providers will continue to get the training and develop the skills necessary to help answer the tough questions epilepsy poses.

We can be proud of what we have accomplished through the American Epilepsy Society. We have been successful because over the years, generous donors have stepped forward to underwrite our mission to promote research and education for professionals dedicated to the prevention, treatment and cure of epilepsy.

Philanthropic support for the work of AES is critical to maintaining our position as leaders in research, treatment, training and professional development.  Please make your gift today.
