Epilepsy Foundation Walk 2013

AES TEAMS BREAK AES RECORDS and WIN TOP SPOTS AT EF WALK, 2013!

Thanks to a fiercely competitive team spirit and the desire to steal away the YALE CUP from YALE EPILEPSY PROGRAM, we have a winner in the most funds raised through registration and donations --- and, it was their first year walking!

TEAM NORTHEAST REGIONAL EPILEPSY GROUP, so skillfully lead by TEAM CAPTAIN, AES Member Dr. LORNA MYERS!

The YALE CUP, (shown below), will soon be shipped to the NEREG New York City offices to represent the time, dedication, commitment, and absolute awesome work of this team who inspired staff as well as patients.

Yale Cup

Some activities inspired by NEREG, that lead to this win:

Patients sold raffle tickets in NJ stores and to neighbors; support staff sold tickets in all offices; donation buckets in waiting rooms; a patient sold t-shirts, a mom held spa events in NJ; social media used "like nobody's business!" and "Docs gave donations pretty steadily."

To quote Team Captain Myers: "The gift from heaven came when the docs saw all the work we put into this and kept getting weekly reminder emials, they announced the practice would MATCH" the total raised.

Again, thanks must go to YALE EPILEPSY TEAM SUSAN for raising the bar in funds raised, walkers registered, supporters sponsoring. These two teams were separated by just a few hundred dollars. Final totals will be announced soon.

Other hard-working AES Teams lead by AES Members (in alphabetical order) that also put in an enormous amount of work in organizing and fund raising:

  • TEAM AES - Team Captain, Kathy Hucks, (AES Staff)
  • TEAM DREIFUSS - Team Captain Nathan Fountain, MD
  • TEAM J. KIFFIN PENRY - CO-Captains Martin Penry, and Dr. Jack Pellock
  • TEAM MED-CHEM - Team Captain Patrice Jackson-Ayotunde, Ph.D.
  • TEAM NEW ENGLAND SEIZURE FREEDOM TRAIL - CO Captains Patty Osborne Shafer, RN, and Andrea E. Spencer, M.D.
  • TEAM NYU - Team Captain, Jacqueline A. French, M.D.

TEAMS walking for AES who are not members, but chose to direct funds raised to AES AND to whom we are so deeply grateful and humbled:

  • TEAM EYEDA'S WALKERS
  • CHARLIE'S ANGELS
  • CPOM SUPPORT GROUP
  • TEAM RIDDLER
  • TEAM ANTHONY DICKEY
  • AES

We think this year, the bar has been raised yet again! The number of activities that our top team inspired to generate the donations raised will have to be matched next year. The cup (above!) will soon be in their possession, but for only as long as it takes for the next team to reach the bar that NEREG raised in 2013.

CONGRATULATIONS

and

THANKS TO EVERYONE!

Photos will be posted on FB, and here soon!
