Rebecca Goldberg Kaufman
As an educator, Rebecca Goldberg Kaufman held knowledge and compassion as keystone virtues. As a mother of a child with epilepsy, she understood the significant psychiatric and social ramifications of epilepsy and became a staunch advocate for increased education of the psychological aspects of epilepsy. She also supported clinical research on the psychiatric effects of anticonvulsants.
Her son, Kenneth R. Kaufman, M.D., MRCPsych, a Professor of Psychiatry, Neurology and Anesthesiology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, established this fund in her honor. The Rebecca Goldberg Kaufman Ethical Neuropsychiatry Fund works to advance a better understanding of the psychiatric aspects of epilepsy care and treatment.
