“I would like to express my gratitude to the Epilepsy Foundation and the American Epilepsy Society for supporting my research and my professional development throughout my career. I have been fortunate enough to receive both the John F. Annegers Predoctoral Fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. Kevin Staley and the William G. Lennox Postdoctoral Fellowship under the mentorship of Dr. John Huguenard. Receiving these awards has made it possible to continue my research into the mechanisms of epilepsy, epilepsy associated with brain malformations and post-traumatic epilepsy. I keep in mind, on a daily basis, the generosity of the EF, AES, and the members who support them. In doing so I find motivation and focus to design better experiments, ask clinically relevant questions, and push the technological envelope of how we as scientists study epileptic brain function. The support of the epilepsy community has without question helped keep me and my research focused on better understanding epilepsy.”
