The CME Review Subcommittee reports to the Year-Round Education Committee which falls under the Council on Education. The Subcommittee reviews and approves applications for co- or jointly-sponsored educational activities.

Basic Function
The chair of the subcommittee is appointed by the Chair of the Council on Education. The subcommittee consists of approximately 10 members and is staffed by a member of the AES Education team. Subcommittee members are assigned review of specific articles or presentations of an approved CME activity.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Review and approve proposals for activities outside of the Annual Meeting (e.g. monographs, newsletters, internet, regional meetings) submitted by third parties and AES members.
- Develop enduring materials based on needs of the membership
- Develop an “enduring materials protocol” for planners of CME activities at the AES that provides guidance on when and how enduring material should be utilized within the scope of AES’s CME Program.
- Operate within the context of AES’s Policy on Enduring Materials and Policy on Journal CME.
- Establish a protocol for the utilization of the Internet in providing continuing medical education for AES members and other interested physicians.
- Review and approve proposals for Internet CME submitted by third parties or other AES committees.
- Develop a liaison with Internet providers that has the capability of designing Internet programs that are interactive, and utilizes innovative teaching mechanisms such as case studies.
- Operate within the scope of AES’s Policy on Enduring Materials as applied to Internet CME program.
