Overview
This symposium will review the theory and use ofself-management care in people with epilepsy and other chronic healthdisorders. There will be presentations of research regarding key components,outcomes, and predictors of effective self-management in epilepsy. Selectedinterventions that enhance knowledge and self-efficacy, change behavior, orincrease coping and social support will be explored. Community and Web-basedsupports and programs will be discussed as innovative ways of enhancingself-management outside of clinical practice settings.

- Identifythree predictors of successful self management for individuals living withepilepsy
- Evaluatethe psychosocial factors and behavioral inverventions that can positivelyimpact self management
