AAN Advocates for Coverage of Anticonvulsant Drugs for the Treatment of Epilepsy

The AAN recently approved a position statement advocating for coverage of anticonvulsant drugs for the treatment of epilepsy. Newly developed AAN clinical guidelines stress the importance of complete physician autonomy in prescribing anticonvulsants to patients with epilepsy. The purpose of the position statement is to translate the essential findings in AAN’s clinical guidelines into a set of principles that can be used in public policy. View the position statement

Published in the American Academy of Neurology's (AAN) April 27, 2004, Neurology and released during the AAN Annual Meeting in San Francisco, the two-part guideline “Efficacy and Tolerability of the New Antiepileptic Drugs” was developed by the American Epilepsy Society and the American Academy of Neurology.
