This program is designed for psychologists, pharmacists, nurses and social workers who interact frequently with people with epilepsy.
Program goal
To offer health care professionals information regarding dietary supplements available without prescription to persons with epilepsy. Information will include safety issues, drug interactions and adverse effects of these supplements regarding the most commonly used herbal supplements.
Objectives:
- Identify the most commonly used herbal supplements that are offered on the market.
- Recognize the uses and benefits of the herbal supplements.
- Identify the most common adverse effects and drug interactions of herbal supplements with anti- convulsant medications.
- Identify patient teaching issues for regarding herbal supplements for persons with epilepsy.
