The University of Iowa Department of Neurology seeks an adult epileptologist to join an established program. The successful candidate will hold the MD degree or equivalent, be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited Neurology residency and have completed fellowship training in Epilepsy and/or Clinical Neurophysiology or have equivalent clinical experience. Demonstrated interest and success in clinical research is required. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with significant teaching or leadership experience. The candidate must be able to demonstrate knowledge of effective strategies for working with diverse faculty, staff, and students and be able to demonstrate job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work/academic environment.
The Epilepsy Division, a component of the multi-departmental Iowa Comprehensive Epilepsy Program, includes an outpatient clinic seeing over 2,000 patients annually, an eight bed inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, an additional bed dedicated to invasive monitoring and physiological research, programs in vagus nerve stimulation and epilepsy surgery, a fellowship program, and clinical drug and device trials.
The Department of Neurology was ranked 22nd in the recent US News World & Report and consists of 30 full-time faculty physicians. The department is currently undergoing a major expansion with recruitment in multiple areas of clinical neurology and basic neuroscience.
