Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship EEG/Epilepsy Track – Washington, DC
Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship EEG/Epilepsy Track unexpected opening for July 2013 provides a broad didactic and clinical exposure to a variety of neurophysiologic techniques with an emphasis on electroencephalography (EEG) and evoked potentials (EP). There is in-depth exposure to neonatal, pediatric, and adult EEG, routine EP, intensive video-EEG monitoring including intracranial depth and grid recording, electrocorticography, and ambulatory EEG. There is a focus on the medical and surgical management of epilepsy. Elective time in polysomnography, intraoperative monitoring and electromyography is offered. Advanced neuroimaging including PET, and functional MRI are available for seizure focus localization and functional mapping.
The fellowship is approved by the ACGME and fulfills the requirements for taking the certifying examination in clinical neurophysiology from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology. Interested applicants are requested to submit a personal statement which specifies your interest, curriculum vita, common application form and three letters of reference to Ashley Shapiro, Georgetown University Hospital Department of Neurology. All applicants must be graduates of an accredited U.S. or Canadian neurology programs and one reference letter must be from the neurology residency director.
