Dr. Michael Privitera is Professor and Vice-Chair of Neurology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and Director of the Cincinnati Epilepsy Center.
Dr. Privitera trained at Johns Hopkins University, State University of New York in Syracuse, Georgetown University Medical Center, and at University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center. His areas of research interest are antiepileptic drug development and epilepsy surgery, and he has published extensively in both these areas.
He has been an investigator on over 30 trials of investigational antiepileptic drugs. He has directed the Annual Course at the AES Annual Meeting as well as the Epilepsy course at the American Academy of Neurology, and is a member of the Cochrane Epilepsy Group. Over the years, Dr. Privitera has contributed to the training of many residents and fellows and earned several teaching awards.
He is a member of the editorial board and an ad-hoc reviewer for many journals in the areas of neurology, pharmacology, and epilepsy, as well as being a grant reviewer for NIH and several other foundations.
