07.01.2014 – Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Position

Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship Position – University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

starts: 07/01/2014
ends: 06/30/2015

Our program has many strengths in EEG/Epilepsy and EMG/Neuromuscular. CNP Fellows are able to train four months in each area of these areas (EEG/Epilepsy at University Hospital-UHS, and EMG/Neuromuscular at UT-Medicine) and four months at the San Antonio VA Epilepsy Center of Excellence (ECoE) doing EEG, Epilepsy Clinic and EMU. Fellows are able to choose an Epilepsy Track replacing the EMG/Neuromuscular block with rotations at the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at UHS and/or additional EEG/Epilepsy at UHS. UHS is an active NAEC Level IV comprehensive epilepsy center with 5 epileptologists and 2 neurosurgeons. Our center has 10 adult and 4 pediatric beds. Fellows will be exposed to continuous bedside eeg monitoring in the neuro intensive care unit along with routine inpatient and outpatient studies. In addition, Sleep training is also an option during the EEG rotations.

Over the past 5 years, our CNP Fellows have scored (on average) at the 85% percentile of CNP Fellows across the nation in the ACNS In-service examination. We also have had 100% passing rate in the Clinical Neurophysiology board examination of the ABPN. Our program has been continuously accredited since 1996. For the academic year of 2014-15, we are recruiting fellows from outside of our Neurology program. We already filled two of the positions and we are actively recruiting to fill the third position.

A requirement to begin our CNP fellowship is the successful completion of an ACGME approved residency in Neurology, Child Neurology, or Psychiatry in the United States. Successful completion of our 1 year fellowship allows you to be eligible to take the Clinical Neurophysiology board examination of the ABPN, as well as to apply for the examination for the American Board of Clinical Neurophysiology (ABCN), and the examination by the AANEM if you completed the number of EMG studies that is needed. We do not sponsor H-1 visas in our CNP fellowship.

Please send CV, Personal Statement, 3 letters of recommendation, USMLE transcript and ECFMG certification (for IMG).
