Membership Categories

Active - $275

Active members are involved in clinical, research, or other professional aspects of epilepsy or related fields and reside in the United States, Canada or Mexico. This category is required for applicants in the United States, Canada or Mexico who hold an MD or DO.

Active members receive subscriptions to the journals Epilepsy Currents and Epilepsia and reduced member rates for meetings and programs.

Active members may hold office and vote.

Applicants for membership must obtain a signed letter of support from a current Active member. The form for this letter can be found here.

 

Professionals in Epilepsy Care - $125

Professionals in Epilepsy Care are non-physician healthcare professionals and others interested in the care and treatment of people with epilepsy.

Professionals in Epilepsy Care receive the journal Epilepsy Currents and reduced member rates for meetings and programs.

Professionals in Epilepsy Care may hold office and vote.

Applicants for membership must obtain a signed letter of support from a current Active member. The form for this letter can be found here

 

Vision 20/20 Partner - $90

Employees of nonprofit, non-governmental organizations who participate in the Epilepsy Leadership Council are eligible for this category. Physicians are not eligible for this membership category.

Vision 20/20 Partners receive the journal Epilepsy Currents.

Vision 20/20 Partners may hold office and vote.

Applicants for membership must obtain a signed letter of support from a current Active member. The form for this letter can be found here

 

Corresponding Membership - $160 without Epilepsia/$242 with Epilepsia

Corresponding Members are involved in clinical, research, or other professional aspects of epilepsy or related fields and reside outside the United States, Canada or Mexico. Physicians outside the United States, Canada or Mexico are eligible for this category.

All Corresponding members receive the journal Epilepsy Currents and reduced member rates for meetings and programs.

Corresponding members may elect to receive Epilepsia by paying the higher dues rate.

Corresponding members do not hold office or vote.

Applicants for membership must obtain a signed letter of support from a current Active member. The form for this letter can be found here

 

Junior Membership – $75 without Epilepsia/ $150 with Epilepsia

Junior Members are in formal, full-time training programs in the field of epilepsy. 

All Junior members receive the journal Epilepsy Currents and reduced member rates for meetings and programs. Junior members may elect to receive Epilepsia by paying the higher dues rate.

Junior members do not hold office or vote.

Applicants for this category must submit a letter of support from their program supervisor confirming their trainee status. The form for this letter can be found here

 

Associate Membership - $275

Associate members are employed by a company involved in the marketing, sales and/or development of epilepsy-related products or services.

Associate members receive the journals Epilepsy Currents and Epilepsia  and reduced member rates for meetings and programs.

Associate members do not hold office or vote.

Associate members are not required to submit a letter of sponsorship with application.

 

Senior Members

Active, Professionals in Epilepsy Care or Corresponding members who have reached the age of 70 and have been an AES member for a minimum of 15 years may request their member status changed to Senior. Senior members are exempt from payment of dues.

Senior members do not receive the journals Epilepsy Currents and Epilepsia  but do receive reduced member rates for meetings and programs.

Senior members do not vote on AES business or hold office or serve as committee chairs, but may sit on committees and vote on committee matters.

Members who meet these criteria are not required to change member status.
