Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy Fellowship
We have the opportunity to add another Adult Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG-track) Fellow at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Fellowship can begin in July 2014. The Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship is ACGME accredited. A second year of Epilepsy Fellowship is also optional; and application for the ACGME accreditation of the Epilepsy Fellowship has been submitted.
The CNP/EEG fellowship offers specialized training in the diagnosis and management of central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous system disorders; additional training in polysomnography and intraoperative monitoring is incorporated. Hands-on experience and intensive individual training by faculty is offered in the pre-surgical evaluation & surgical treatment of epilepsy, scalp & invasive electroencephalography, intra- & extra-operative cortical mapping, Wada testing, and neurostimulation.
We currently have 6 fellows per year (4 adult and 2 pediatric positions) in the Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy tracks, plus additional trainees in the Neuromuscular Fellowship. There are 9 faculty epileptologists and 6 neuromuscular/EMG faculty representing a breadth of training backgrounds to offer a diverse training experience. Fellows will train at Parkland Memorial Hospital, UT Southwestern Hospitals and Clinics, and Children's Medical Center of Dallas-- where there are a total of 19 Epilepsy Monitoring Unit beds, and several thousand EEG studies are performed each year between the sites.
