Grass AES Young Investigator Award

To recognize and honor outstanding young investigators conducting research in basic or clinical neuroscience related to epilepsy, the Grass Foundation and the American Epilepsy Society have combined resources to present Grass Foundation-AES Young Investigator Travel Awards ($1,000, together with waiver of AES meeting registration fees) to up to 8 deserving candidates to help support travel costs to present their research at the annual meeting of the American Epilepsy Society. In addition, the AES will announce the awardees and their talk/poster titles in an award ceremony during the scientific program.

Criteria:

  1. Candidates will be investigators early in their careers, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, residents, clinical fellows or junior faculty (M.D., M.D./Ph.D., Ph.D., or the equivalent), who are conducting basic or clinical research relating to epilepsy and are less than 5 years out of postgraduate training.
  2. Applicants should be first authors on an abstract submitted to the AES
  3. Applicants can self-nominate, or nominations from second parties will be accepted.
  4. Following the initial review of application abstracts, as part of the application process, a recommendation may be required from one of the applicant’s trainers/mentors. This will be solicited by the AES review committee should the application be deemed competitive for the award. This recommendation should include the applicant’s research focus, role in the abstract, promise as a future investigator, and any information regarding the applicant’s status as an underrepresented minority.
