CHICAGO - Professor Graeme Jackson was presented with the 53rd Lombroso Lecturer Award during the AES2020 event of the American Epilepsy Society (AES). The Lombroso Lecture is given each year by a clinician or scientist who is considered an outstanding
investigator in the field of epilepsy research. The lecture and award is supported by the AES Lennox and Lombroso Trust. Professor Graeme presented his lecture on Intrinsic Brain Networks and Epilepsy: The Next Era of Advanced MR Imaging
Professor Jackson
is a neurologist and an epileptologist at the Austin Hospital, Melbourne, Australia. He also leads an active research team at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health where he is Deputy Director. He is a Professorial Fellow of the University
of Melbourne, the Node Director of the Victorian Biomedical Imaging Capability (VBIC), the international Enhancing Neuro Imaging Genetics through Meta- Analysis (ENIGMA) project, and the National Imaging Facility (NIF). He chairs the Science Council of
Neuroscience Victoria and is a member of the Diagnostic Methods commission of the International League against Epilepsy.
Professor Jackson actively supports research excellence in his and related fields and has received multiple NHMRC excellence awards.
He recently received the 2020 Austin Medical Research Foundation Distinguished Scientist Award, and in 2016, he received the American Epilepsy Society’s Clinical Science Research Award.
