Kelly Knupp, MD, FAES, Elected Treasurer-Elect of the American Epilepsy Society

ATLANTA—Kelly Knupp, MD, FAES has been elected treasurer of the American Epilepsy Society (AES), which is dedicated to advancing research and education for preventing, treating and curing epilepsy. Dr. Knupp’s term will begin at the end of the Society’s 2025 Annual Meeting in Atlanta, GA on December 5-8, 2025. She will serve as treasurer 2026-2028.

Dr. Knupp is an associate professor of pediatrics and neurology at the University of Colorado, Aurora. She received her medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine, and completed her residency in pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of New York followed by pediatric neurology residency at Columbia University at Children’s Hospital of New York. After her residency, she trained as a clinical fellow in pediatric epilepsy at the Columbia Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at New York Presbyterian Hospital.

Dr. Knupp currently practices at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Aurora where she is the director of the Dravet Program and interim section chief focusing on her interests of epileptic encephalopathies, which include Dravet Syndrome and infantile spasms. She was a founding member of the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Consortium and continues to serve on its Steering Committee which focuses on developing collaborative research across the country for children with epileptic encephalopathies. 

Dr. Knupp served on the board of directors of AES from 2023-2025 and on the medical advisory boards of the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, Coalition to Cure CHD2, and the Scientific Advisory Council of Cure Epilepsy.
